Perennial powerhouse Wal-Mart Stores Inc. again finished in the top spot in the annual Top 100 Retailers List compiled by Stores magazine.
The ranking is based on annual sales, and Wal-Mart checked out fiscal 2007 at $379 billion. The top 10 was rounded out by The Home Depot Inc., CVS Caremark, The Kroger Co., Costco Wholesale Corp., Target Corp., Walgreen Co., Sears Holdings Co., Lowe's Cos. Inc. and SuperValu Inc.
Safeway Inc. slipped from 10th to 11th this year.
Stores magazine is published by the National Retail Federation of Washington, representing more than 1.6 million retail businesses nationwide.
